Finca Serena — Mallorca, Spain
It doesn’t take long for Finca Serena to blow away any preconceived notions visitors may have of the classic Spanish finca. A bridge of luxury and simplicity, the newest addition to the Único Hotels portfolio, is a lesson in Zen; a peaceful retreat where calmness and privacy reign supreme.
Set in the Pla de Mallorca, the estate is defined by a series of whitewashed stone buildings comprising a main eight-room structure and a further eight buildings that house the remaining 17 accommodations. Inside, Pilar Garcia-Nieto, the group's director of interior design, and Mallorcan architect Sergi Bastidas have punctuated white-on-white with shots of earthy tones and haptic layering, which sees natural materials like linen, rustic stoneware and wood seamlessly overlap. The result is an array of rooms that balance the traditional aspects of the archetypal finca with a modern spin, supplemented by terraces, garden space, and far-reaching vistas of the olive groves and landscape beyond.
Fragranced by surrounding lemon trees and fields of lavender, the property presents an abundant snapshot of Mediterranean nature. The sensory experience continues at Restaurant Jacaranda, where chef Cristian Peguero’s daily changing menus are fed by ingredients from the estate’s three vegetable gardens, and fruit and olive trees for dishes that combine traditional recipes with contemporary flair. Elsewhere, the multifaceted Serenity Spa fully aligns with the adult-only hotel’s commitment to R&R, with an indoor pool, sauna, and yoga classes and meditation zones, while an outdoor pool and a network of jogging pathways complete this rarefied retreat.
