Scene setting: For his 10th anniversary collection, Jason Wu returned to a special place in his — and the label’s — history, the grand St Regis hotel, where he held one of his first runway shows in 2010. The venue’s ornate, gilded cornices and crystal chandeliers complemented the eveningwear that Wu has become known for. After all, who can forget Michelle Obama’s beautiful white, one-shoulder, inaugural ball gown in 2009 that catapulted the designer’s name into the spotlight?

Best in show: Sweaters with crescent cut-outs around each side of the collar added a touch of sensuality to the classic daytime staple. An elegant below-the-knee red dress had the perfect ladylike silhouette.

Finishing touches: Wu paid homage to the one-shoulder silhouette that made him famous in a number of looks, most notably in a luxurious gold velvet dress. Several eveningwear looks showed Wu’s adeptness at draping, like flocked sheer cocktail dresses in green and fuschia.
