JW Anderson A/W 2017
Mood board: The stamped lettering on JW Anderson’s A/W 2017 bought to attention the label’s new logo – the periods between his initials being replaced for a ‘W’ raised higher that the other serif letters. Among Anderson’s typically reference-heavy collection, threads of newness were also noted: a heightened femininity and sex appeal was seen in marabou trims and chain mail details, draped vests with alluring open backs and delicate knitted bra tops.
Best in show: A deconstructed interpretation of the trench coat, with a leather buckled collar and asymmetric side button was an unusual take on a classic, and a cropped leather jacket in buttery black leather, emphasised Anderson’s evolved use of luxurious fabrics and textures.
Finishing touches: After the success of Anderson’s Pierce bag, a style he first launched for Pre-Fall 2016, his attention to accessories has kept on evolving. For A/W 2017, his Pierce styles came in fringed khaki suede and rich velvet with flowing ribbons. Footwear too came into focus, with unusually sexy bow-detail gladiator boots other knee high styles with zips and exaggerated soles.
