Mood board: Ralph Lauren's runway shows always evoke a journey to a far-off place. This season, the design great looked to the American West, fashioning an ideal wardrobe for wandering around the woods, or just a luxurious mountain lodge. Swarthy cashmere turtlenecks, slinky knitted skirts, fringed shawls and suede platform boots had the classic appeal of reliable staples, but were treated with embellishments for a sophisticated finish.
Best in show: Instead of using fur, Lauren introduced shredded shearling stoles and shawl collars, which were presented layered over knitted coats, pinstripe suits and cashmere capes. Patchwork constructions festooned with feathers and lots of embroidery and beading amped up the glamour.
Finishing touches: Wide-brimmed fedoras and fluffy shearling trooper hats were perfect toppers to the collection. Fringed suede bags and beaded statement jewellery showed off Navajo influences that completed Western vibe.
