Knowing that a fashion brand is about much more than just its collections, Tomas Maier, creative director of Bottega Veneta has compiled a special edition album comprising a handpicked selection of music from the store's playlists and past shows.
To produce the album, entitled 'Intreccio Uno', Maier teamed up with collaborator and long-time friend, Michel Gaubert. 'When I work with Michel Gaubert before a show, I always fall in love with something I’ve never heard before. I wanted to share that experience,' says Maier. The Parisian DJ behind many a fashion show soundtrack, Gaubert is also a Wallpaper* contributor - he produced the music for our Handmade exhibition in Milan this year.
'The biggest challenge was to make a tracklist that would be coherent, given the fact that there are so many different elements,' Gaubert says. With a cover designed by Maier, featuring artworks by photographer Robert Longo, the album includes an eclectic mix of songs from French pianist Maxence Cyrin and English indie stars, The Heavy. 'In general what we do for the shows is a mixture of all kinds of music that could range from classical with hip hop or obscure soundtracks mixed with tribal drums. Tomas wanted that to be reflected on the CD,' says Gaubert of the varied mix. Sold in Bottega stores worldwide, the album is out now.
