Fresh from opening restaurateur Michael Chow's solo show at her gallery in Hong Kong (opens in new tab), Shanghai-based Pearl Lam has just expanded her empire by launching her fourth eponymous gallery in Singapore's Gillman Barracks (opens in new tab). The inaugural exhibition, titled 'Where does it all begin?', is aimed at stimulating discussion about contemporary abstract art. On show are works by Chinese artists Su Xiaobai and Zhu Jinshi, Indonesian artist Christine Ay Tjoe and British artist Peter Peri. 'The gallery complements the programmes at our Shanghai and Hong Kong galleries but with a wider focus on Southeast Asian art as well as the west,' explains Lam.
The inaugural exhibition features works by Chinese artists Zhu Jinshi and Su Xiaobai, Indonesian artist Christine Ay Tjoe and British artist Peter Peri. From left: 'Kuanhou - A Flash of Red', by Su Xiaobai, and 'When Black and Red could hardly be a circle (Ketika Hitam dan Merah Sulit Menjadi Lingkaran)', by Christine Ay Tjoe, 2013
The show is aimed at stimulating discussion about contemporary abstract art, and runs parallel to restaurateur Michael Chow's debut painting exhibit at Pearl Lam Hong Kong
