Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair by Tal R

2008 marks the 50th anniversary of Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair, originally designed for Copenhagen’s SAS Royal Hotel, now an instantly recognisable design the world over. In celebration of the occasion, Israeli artist Tal R has customised 50 Egg chairs in a range of colourful patchwork fabrics. ‘The whole point was to make a chair that tells a multitude of stories,’ explains Tal, ‘so the pieces of cloth had to be full of life and look a bit as if it was homemade.’ All 50 will be displayed throughout April at Galleria Carla Sozzani before going on a world tour.
