Tommy Hilfiger has pre-launched a line of footwear in collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation and Artestar LLC featuring the artwork of late artist and social activist Keith Haring.
The exclusive capsule collection, comprised of sneakers and rain boots for women and children as well as high tops and sneakers for men, has made its debut at Dover Street Market in London. The collection will be available for a limited period only.
The collaboration between Hilfiger and the Keith Haring Foundation is one of mutual philanthropy. Haring's work was often a reaction to urban street culture of the 1980s. The artist was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988 and established the Keith Haring Foundation in 1989 to provide funding and imagery to AIDS organizations. The fashion powerhouse set up the Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation in 1995 to help empower America's youth.
The Tommy Hilfiger Footwear capsule collection will officially launch in Tommy Hilfiger stores and selected retailers in September 2010.
Haring's work also serves as the backdrop for the window installation
