The show notes decreed 'the first look alone would say everything' and who are we to disagree with the British Dame herself. But in true Westwood fashion, there was a lot more than one fluted swing coat to the fashion icon's swagger. Mining the wardrobe of both the 1950s and 1980s housewife, the designer offered up a women 'born in the privileged world' who was warmly looked after, and able to take her pick from skirt suits cut from either era, be it a polite plaid (complete with a signature Westwood bustle), or a racy, zip-up black leather version. Either way, the Red Label woman was lavish: dripping in furs, pearls or pillbox hats, with rouge on both her lips and cheeks, just as she boldly wore her heart on extended jacket lapels.
