Richard James S/S 2016
Mood board: There certainly weren't any shrinking violets on the Richard James runway for spring/summer 2016. Instead, there were stylised hibiscus blooms from deep within the Mexican jungle as the Savile Row tailor journeyed to Las Pozas, the pseudo 'ancient ruin' created by eccentric English poet and surrealist Edward James on a lush Sierra Madre hillside.
Best in show: Just as the 100-acre 'garden' is overrun by exotic plants, so too was Richard James designer Toby Lamb's tailoring: green and orange colourways blossomed into cobalt and crimson, with a handsome teal blue trench providing a brief respite from the hyper hues. Tropical-weight textured linen jackets broke free of conventional suiting arrangements, and were paired up with tailored shorts that were more suitable for the modern dandy's urban jungle.
Finishing touches: Hotel-style slides were woven in wicker cane, while soft slippers absorbed more printed florals.
