One cannot help but tap along to the whimsical, folky soundtracks of Margaret Howell's boutique showings, which transport you to her bleak coastal utopia in a heartbeat. Pushing 'fashion' forward is far from her agenda, and the S/S 2015 show was another exercise in augmented simplicity - those petits details that render her pieces just so timeless. Today that was the black knit collar tacked to a grey button-down shirt, or the sage and mint cotton scarves that knotted under dry cable knits and flat, linen coats. Lively moments of colour popped out from amongst the palette of steely greys and blues, as a red Breton striped tee or a crewneck sweater in cobalt and dark lime wool. It was the nonchalant pairing of fine and raw fabrications however that ensured Howell's monologue of crisp, personal luxury shone throughout.
