Lane Crawford returns to Shanghai on a mission to win hearts and minds away from ubiquitous luxury brands to trendsetting fashion, modern art, design and music. The new department store by Yabu Pushelberg features 15,000 sq m of glamorous, earthy tones, onyx marble flooring, hand-painted walls and specially commissioned artworks by leading artists like Hirotoshi Sawada. Expect a crisp edit of international designers like Alexander McQueen and Helmut Lang and fresh local gems like Helen Lee and Chictopia. The store has already made its mark with its hyper-efficient concierge and online style advisors, not to mention unique creative displays like this spring’s, courtesy of avant-garde Japanese designer Katsuya Kamo.
