Casa Loewe opens its first new look European flagship in Milan
Following on from JW Anderson's appointment as creative director and a new M/M (Paris)-designed logo, the Spanish house has opened its very first European Casa Loewe flagship in Milan. To mark the occasion the brand has commissioned local artist Ugo La Pietra to fashion a series of five ceramic sculptures, each of which are almost two metres in height and dotted about the Via Montenapoleone property.
Sharing design elements with the house's first Casa Loewe concept store in Tokyo, the spacious boutique's overall feel is that of a grand private residence. Merging old with the new, the 17th century façade and original frescoed ceilings have been mindfully maintained, and are balanced by expanses of ecru carpet and a grand floating central staircase. Antique furnishings also include a bench by William Morris and an Ambrose Heal 'Owl' cabinet, while large windows filter streaming natural light from an adjoining courtyard.
