Traditional European design codes bring an offbeat chic to a home located on the Venice Canals, Los Angeles. The home, by Italian brand Boffi, celebrates both the light and the dark in a juxtaposition of texture and style.

Boffi draws on its traditions of Italian craftsmanship for the kitchen, powder room and master bathroom it has curated, bringing a cohesion to the living space with a design that links the areas through seamless parallels.

The kitchen plays on monochromatic motifs, with an island featuring matte black lacquer cabinets and a white Calacatta countertop giving the space a bold, graphic identity. Appliances in metal lacquer and open shelving bring an urban edge.

The minimalism carries through to the powder room. Here, a vanity unit is topped with dense Italian Carrara marble, a choice both elegant and practical thanks to its durable and stain-resistant properties. For all its solidity, the marble is given a fluidity thanks to a waterfall design that pours the stone over the cabinet’s sides. The distinctive darkness of the apartment is encapsulated in the waterproof Dark Micromosaic tiles by Nero Sicilia, stretching from floor to ceiling.

Marble is also prevalent in the bathroom, where the countertops make a tactile foil for the Domenico Mori handmade clay tiles and white cabinetry, their lack of hardware making for a clean canvas. Fixtures and accessories, in stainless steel, add a sharp modernity.

The Venice Canals apartment is the latest project for Boffi, building on the company’s brand of fully integrated design that epitomises Italian elegance, with a focus on Italian craftsmanship and custom-made tailoring making for fuss-free living situations.
