The Conran Shop has unveiled its freshly rejuvenated Marylebone store, heralding a bright new era for the British lifestyle retailer. Housed in a former stable building on Marylebone’s vibrant High Street, the new look space has been revitalized with the addition of unique features such as a café, flower stall and a penthouse 'apartment' packed with design icons.
Since opening his first store in 1973, Sir Terence Conran has transformed his business into a design empire with global stores reaching from Paris to Tokyo. Now Jasper Conran, who took the helm of the brand as chairman last year, is breathing new life into its retail spaces, having directed the refurbishment of the flagship store in Chelsea last summer.
The Conran Apartment takes over the top floor as the centerpiece of the revitalized retail concept. Here, the store presents an eclectic edit of furniture and art, combining vintage pieces with design classic from Charles and Ray Eames, Carlo Mollino and Hans J. Wegner in a beautiful loft setting.
The second floor presents a market-style kitchen shop alongside a lighting section and textiles department. Throughout the floor, Conran-curated table settings provide visitors with inspiration for their own dining rooms.
Several new shopping experiences were launched on the ground floor, alongside a children’s shop, book section, and lifestyle wares that include everything from Wallpaper* City Guides to fragrances and music. Shoppers can grab a fresh sandwich made by St John Bakery or mull over wares with a fresh cup of coffee concocted by Caravan especially for The Conran Shop.
