Venice Architecture Biennale 2018 preview
The 16th international architecture exhibition of the Venice Biennale, running from 26 May to 25 November, is curated by architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara who selected the theme ‘Freespace’ for the event. As well as the main exhibition located at the Giardini and the Arsenale including 71 participants, this year there are the 63 national pavilions – as well as a host of other architectural and cultural events happening across Venice. For the third exhibition produced in the framework the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s ‘Hors-les-murs’ programme, the Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia presents artist Ian Cheng’s work ‘Emissary Forks At Perfection’. Cheng’s explores self-generating digital simulations in the form of large, immersive, audio-visual projections. His works, a blend of cognitive sciences, computer programming and video-game aesthetics, explore the potential of new technologies with sensitivity and acuity.
