Venice Architecture Biennale 2018 preview
The 16th international architecture exhibition of the Venice Biennale, running from 26 May to 25 November, is curated by architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara who selected the theme ‘Freespace’ for the event. As well as the main exhibition located at the Giardini and the Arsenale including 71 participants, this year there are the 63 national pavilions – as well as a host of other architectural and cultural events happening across Venice. This exhibition presents 20 case studies that examine new notions of collective identity. Participating architects include He Wei from 3andwich Design, Atlas Studio, Stefano Boeri, Zuo Jin (curator Bishan Crafts Cooperative), Ou Ning (curator of the Kwan-Yen Project) and Vector Architects. Following its two previous instalments at the Venice Architecture Biennale, this is the third chapter of the Across Chinese Cities programme that continues exploring the rapport between the built environment and socio-economic processes of change in the contemporary Chinese context.
