Giving up Copenhagen city life in 2016, Danish writer and food stylist Mette Helbæk and her husband, chef Flemming Hansen acquired a remote plot of unspoiled Swedish forest to create Stedsans in the Woods.

The idea was to develop a retreat with hygge-infused accommodation, extreme closeness to nature and shared meals with ingredients sourced just a mere few metres from the dining table.

Now, after setting up a greenhouse restaurant, a floating sauna and several Bedouin tents in 2017, this year sees the addition of 15 wooden cabins, which Helbæk and Hansen have created in close collaboration with architects Asger Risborg Jakobsen and Thomas Kjelds.

Inspired by simple lean-to shelters found throughout the Swedish woods, these 16 sq m triangular fir-tree structures feature a glass façade, perfectly situated for all-night stargazing.
