Vivo launches OriginOS 6, for a smooth and intelligent mobile experience
Superior AI, next-level graphics and a seamless user experience make this Vivo’s most sophisticated operating system yet

In Partnership With Vivo
Technology company Vivo has announced the worldwide launch of OriginOS 6, the latest and most sophisticated iteration of its advanced mobile operating system.
Combining a dynamic new aesthetic with a core of sophisticated AI and an ultra-smooth graphic engine, OriginOS 6 provides a seamless bridge between the digital and physical worlds, driven by human touch.
At the heart of the new OS is the Origin Smooth Engine, a graphical powerhouse that drives the next-level animations, transitions and dynamic interactions. Inspired by nature, especially the fluid movement, shifting focus and rippling effects of light and fluid dynamics, the new interface is richly textured with an unprecedented feeling of depth.
OriginOS 6 is shaped by Vivo’s ‘Back to Origin’ design philosophy, which draws inspiration from natural processes and balance. This is particularly evident in the smooth visuals, with motion and spatial rhythms that evoke ripples on a pond, branches in the wind, or even the rich darks and bright whites that shape the on-screen graphics with depth and a completely natural flow. This approach to lighting is called Dynamic Glow. For example, it can be seen in action on the Origin Player, where a dynamic music card based on the album art changes with the melody.
The result is an aesthetic that’s as intuitive as it is elegant, with attention to detail that scales right down to individual pixels. The colour schemes, icons, grids and typography have a clear, rational order, on top of which the playful dynamic animations serve to bring the operating system to life. A new font, Vivo Sans, brings clarity and balance to information display, with high legibility and elegant forms.
In practice, this means smooth transitions from crisp, clear grids to the Immersive Weather with its animated display of conditions, or even the new Flip Cards feature. This unique interface component uses the smartphone’s in-built gyroscopic sensor to trigger a transition between imagery, creating a dynamic lock screen that changes as you twist, tilt and shake your phone. Drawing on imagery from your gallery, including Live Photos and videos, Flip Cards adds a new dimension to your phone. In addition, a Full-Screen always-on display incorporates widgets, imagery and notifications, with a special dimming function to preserve battery life. The stacked approach to information design is combined with a gradient Blur function, a soft filter that emphasises depth, along with a new frosted glass texture.
All of this is powered by Vivo’s Origin Smooth Engine, a proprietary performance architecture that delivers effortless multitasking across apps without any degradation of the frame rate of the animations and transitions. Speed, consistency and smooth scrolling come as standard and enable ‘natural simulation’ functions like the snapping-elastic transitions and frame blurring, all of which add up to a truly premium experience. The new operating system also helps the hardware deliver, with support for the industry’s longest continuous 4K recording at 60fps, without stuttering or crashes.
Vivo’s approach to AI is dubbed ‘Personal Intelligence’, and it has been shaped to provide context-based productivity enhancements. These include the ability to simply press and hold on content – for example, as an image in the gallery – and drag it across to another app, such as social media or a messaging platform, for easy sharing. Likewise, contextually driven alerts can also be triggered by your schedule, such as commuting or meetings, automatically pulling up features like live traffic data or AI notetaking before they’re even requested. These functions have been created in close collaboration with Google, and OriginOS also supports Google’s Gemini AI and Circle to Search function.
Vivo creates ‘products and experiences that stay true to users’ needs,’ says Shi Yujian, the brand’s senior vice president and chief technology officer. ‘As we celebrate Vivo’s 30th anniversary, we are taking the next step with the global debut of OriginOS. Built on three core pillars of smoothness, design and AI, the brand-new OriginOS 6 reimagines the way people connect with the digital world.’
