The intricate craftsmanship behind Fendi's Peekaboo bag
As Fendi presents its S/S 2021 show in Milan today, we revisit an atmospheric film, celebrating the savoir faire behind its signature Peekaboo bag
As life’s paced has decelerated, we’ve felt even more affinity with slow-paced creativity. Fendi is a maison long associated with impeccable artistic innovation in leather and fur – and for those keen for insight into the intricate design of its accessories, we’re lucky enough to showcase a film celebrating the savoir faire behind its signature Peekaboo bag.
The film celebrates a triptych of Fendi Peekaboo styles, which tap into S/S 2020’s penchant for punchy tones and logo-focused details. Different artisanal approaches are applied to the designs, from laser-cutting to hand knotting and weaving, to create alluring accessories which appear stacked with Fendi typography or formed from an undulating wave of textured leather. These finishes are celebrated on film in a host of cinematic still-life sweeps, which are overlaid against graphic shots of the maison’s Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana HQ.
