Simone Rocha S/S 2017
All the hijinks and highlights from the weekend's shows including Simone Rocha, JW Anderson, Mary Katrantzou and Paul Smith
Mood board: Simone Rocha’s brief show notes made it clear that she had hard graft on her mind. Robust perspex-heeled footwear referenced gumboots and white latex gloves – however dainty they looked with broderie anglaise detailing – had a distinct housework feel.
Scene setting: Foregoing her last shows’ regular venue of St. James’ Palace, Simone Rocha held this S/S 2017 show in Southwark cathedral, a decidedly more solemn venue, but no less imposing.
Best in show: The silhouettes that emphasised garment construction demonstrated Rocha’s skill in tailoring. A grey Prince of Wales check suit played with formal deconstruction even with a feminine blouse underneath, as did a beige trench coat slashed in half to reveal a nude tulle dress.
