Burberry Prorsum S/S 2016
Scene setting: Burberry went open air for the first time at Kensington Gore this spring season. Sadly, it wasn’t the sunniest day for it, but a powerful performance by singer Alison Moyet accompanied by a live 32-piece orchestra pit in the middle of the catwalk succeeded in bringing down the glasshouse.
Mood board: We went back to school with Christopher Bailey for S/S 2016 with a uniform inspired show titled Functional Regalia. That said, to us the monogrammed nylon rucksacks, duffle coats, hoodie knits, box pleated kilts, black lace dresses and rouge noir lips brought an undercurrent of that Nineties schoolgirl flick The Craft to the mix.
Finishing touches: Close behind the Burberry backpack for the season’s cult accessory status will no doubt be spring’s hardware-heavy, cross-over ortho sandals – a little bit military, a tad nautical and generally just pretty cool.
