Dolce & Gabbana A/W 2017

Scene setting: For their A/W 2017 runway show, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana cast a host of ‘millennials’- largely social media starlets with gargantuan numbers of followers- to walk in their runway show. For their womenswear offering (which also included a plethora of menswear looks), the duo followed suit, casting a diverse range of faces from Andrea, Alice and Charlotte Dellal to Tabitha Simmons, garnering a rapturous applause from its audience. At the show’s finale, the crowd of models took to the stage, before assembling on staircases at the end of the runway, as waiters appeared, handing out pink champagne to the crowd.
Mood board: Idiosyncratically ostentatious and eclectic, Dolce & Gabbana's A/W 2017 collection featured seductive corset dresses, tuxedo suits, puffer jackets and pyjamas. Florals, leopard print, lace and shimmering sequins all contributed to the opulent finishes, alongside astronaut detail dresses, which echoed the space-theme illustration of the show invite.
Team work: The duo recruited the singer Austin Mahone, who also sang live at their A/W 2017 menswear show, to serenade the audience with a rendition of Modjo’s ‘Lady (Hear me Tonight)', accompanied by a pianist.
