Max Mara A/W 2016
Mood board: An ambitious foil and tape collage stage set the scene for Max Mara's terrific autumn collection that brought an embellished, sporty cool to the brand's signature classic wardrobe. The house's famous camel coats were showered in the attention they deserved and mixed up with flashes of shimmering pewter or brass sequins while bold striping gave a punchy new edge.
Best in show: Every coat was covetable in this collection, from the nubbly oversized mannish camel varieties with pilled surfaces to gilded overcoats. Also noteworthy were the fabulous sequin sweaters with graphic tile patterns that sucked into the models' bodies like a second skin.
Finishing touches: Pre-war elegance was poured into the collection's 1920s shaped bathing body suits, its sexy fishnet stockings and the lace-up shoe booties with block heels in metallic or brightly coloured leathers.
