Prada S/S 2017
Miuccia Prada plucked right from her in-house Prada Sport line to create a show that was saturated with travel-ready, athletically-tinged leisurewear

Mood board: Miuccia Prada plucked right from her own backyard – her in-house Prada Sport line – to create a runway show that was literally saturated with travel-ready, athletically-tinged leisurewear. The models, wearing techno leggings and billowing silk anoraks, were strapped into huge camping packs brimming with fashion camping bootie. They hiked up a metal grate runway like new urban travellers scaling the streets or wanderlust kids looking for the next all night rave in the desert.
Best in show: Prada invented the original fashion backpack in the 1990s so it was a thrill to see it resurface in a new 21st century guise. The original version's discreet black nylon morphed this season into a maximalist, multi print, multi pocketed fashion backpack brimming with sweaters, goods and shoes that dangled off the back.
Finishing touches: The models came so fully loaded with accessories that they looked somewhere between a bag lady, and a mountaineer scaling a Nepalese cliff with 2 weeks worth of supplies. Some of the best extras were plastic orange shower sandals or Tevas worn with socks, which miraculously looked great with everything, multicoloured surf booties and elastic headbands that held back the model's ratty braided hair.
