Mood board: The social media hashtag for Belstaff’s A/W 2016 offering made it very clear: North was where the models, decked out as pioneering adventurers, were heading. In a limited palette of ecru and black, and a few touches of grey, the insulate wax-cotton styles and heavy shearling jackets – sometimes paired with face-covering scarves – made the models look untouchable this winter season.
Scene setting: The fake snow fall within Belstaff’s Victorian Ewer Street Arches venue reminded us of the raw winter conditions that have yet to hit us during this historically mild winter.
Best in show: The all-in-one exploration suit in ecru wax-cotton was an impressive feat of cold weather protection dressing. On the more quotidian side, plush, ultra soft-looking black shearling jackets were proof that this winter wardrobe staple never ceases to have its day.
