Following his graduation from the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven in 2011, South Korean designer Wonmin Park set up his eponymous design studio. He soon captured the attention of the design world with his ethereal 'Unfocused' and 'Haze' furniture series, made from intersecting slabs of pigmented resin.
Cast in individual translucent slabs before being seamlessly joined together, the muted colouration of the resin is achieved by mixing primary colour pigments in the moulds. 'Resin holds so many possibilities for me in terms of practicality, aesthetics and transparency,' explains Park. 'For me it's be the best material to encapsulate the feelings I want to convey.'
The designer, who now splits his time between his production facility in Rotterdam and creative studio in Paris, has exhibited his work at Design Days Dubai, Design Miami, Paris' Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi (as part of the Salone Del Mobile 2014) and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul. More recently, Park enjoyed a solo show at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery where he unveiled new additions to his 'Haze' resin series.
