Antibodies by the Campana Brothers, Vitra

The Campana brothers have long been lauded for their diverse approach to furniture design. Practicing as a unit since 1989, a retrospective of the sibling's work has opened this week at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil Am Rhein, Germany.
Filled with over 70 furniture pieces, photographs, interviews, jewellery and various objets de art, the topsy-turvy 800 sq m exhibition space has been designed by Basel-based studio Groenland Basel, expressly for the Antibodies show.

Collating every aspect of the pair's wide-ranging body of work from the past twenty years, the show also includes products of decisive collaborations with Alessi, Edra and indeed Vitra.
With formative pieces including the bubble wrap Plastico Bolha chair, the paper series, and the wicker & crystal Hybrid chair on show - along with a few specially commissioned recycled bottle lighting panels - Antibodies demonstrates in frivolous form the breadth of the brothers' design vision.
Coming from opposite ends of the creative spectrum, Humberto started out as a practising artist, whilst Fernando trained as an architect - a combination of pedigrees, which has clearly informed the technical supremacy, and playful creativity that defines the pair's oeuvre.
Determined to 'contaminate the world' with their work, Fernando and Humberto, working out of their Sao Paulo studio, have created both mass-produced, and one-off pieces throughout their collaborative career - combining found objects, super-luxe materials and of course, their surreal creative vision.
