Wang Shu talks about his work and philosophy
We visit the architect in his studio and on site at the Xingshan campus of the China Academy of Arts
Pritzker Prize-winning architect and Wallpaper* Design Awards judge Wang Shu is a bold new voice in contemporary Chinese architecture, offering a creative vision far removed from the starry superstructures that have come to characterise the country's scene. Wallpaper* and Bentley present this short film on the work and philosophy of the Hangzhou-based architect, who works in close partnership with his wife, the architect Lu Wenyu, as Amateur Architecture Studio. Filmed as part of Bentley Motor's ongoing Mulsanne Visionaries series, the film sees Shu in his studio and on site at the Xingshan campus of the China Academy of Arts.
