Following its debut in Barcelona, The One – the luxury brand from Spanish hotel group H10 – has launched its second outpost, this time in Lisbon.
Occupying a grand 16th-century palace, the property's original details like the multi-hued marble floors, coffered, stuccoed and gilded ceilings, and ornate frescoes, have been carefully overseen by heritage experts, with Barcelona-based Chilean designer Jaime Beriestain responsible for inserting contemporary luxury within the ancient walls.
The 83 guestrooms – many of which over look the lovely internal courtyard and gardens – are dressed in a base palette of soft feather greys that are highlighted with bold blue and white hand-painted bespoke ceramics that decorate the walls and clean-lined bathrooms clad in delicate pink marble that hales from Portugal's Alentejo region.
There is a sleek swimming pool overlooking Lisbon's quintessential red roofs and a spa with Natura Bisse products, but the jewel in the hotel's crown is certainly the dining room where, under the prettiest painted ceiling in Lisbon, you can dine on elegantly executed dishes of sea bass and scarlet prawns.
