As far as honest shopping goes, the online retailer Everlane (opens in new tab) has been consistently setting the benchmark since it was founded in 2010. Priding itself on providing manufacturing transparency and the subsequent cost savings to its discerning clientele, Everlane has been the go-to destination for well-made wardrobe essentials that don’t break the bank.
What started off as an assortment of basic t-shirts has since expanded into a fully-fledged collection of knitwear, cashmere, silk basics, leather goods and even footwear for both him and her. Its range of women's (opens in new tab)shoes (opens in new tab), which currently includes a loafer, Chelsea boot, pointed flat and foam-soled plimsoll, is one of the San Francisco-based company’s most recent enterprises.
In a show of understanding that buying shoes online might not always be the easiest of tasks, Everlane is currently bringing its footwear collection to hotels in three cities across the United States. More than just a ‘try on’ experience, Everlane’s Room Service (opens in new tab) allows customers to feel out their shoes in a stylish penthouse suite in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Private appointments ensure that things never get too crowded, while partnerships with local food vendors ensures that visitors have plenty of specially curated treats to eat and drink.
At its New York installment last week, visitors in Manhattan enjoyed city views from the Ace Hotel’s (opens in new tab)Loft Suite alongside eats from the hotel’s The Breslin (opens in new tab) restaurant, while in Brooklyn, the Wythe Hotel’ (opens in new tab)s panoramic backdrop and food by Reynard probably made parting with cash all the easier. If the shoe fit (so to speak), customers could place their orders on site and enjoy expedited delivery. The event travels next to San Franscico’s Clift Hotel (opens in new tab) (3-4 November) and then Los Angeles’ Sunset Tower Hotel (opens in new tab) (8 November).
