Antonio Marras A/W 2015

Mood board: Italian actress and model Benedetta Barzini not only inspired Antonio Marras’ sweeping, romantic collection this season but the 72 year-old also took to the runway wearing a sweeping brocade coat from the designer, looking more stunning than the models that could have been her great-grandchildren.
Best in show: Tapestry prints, inspired by the carpets that laid underfoot at the show, and Marie Antoinette necklines, inspired by the 18th century interior images plastered across the walls, found their way onto delicate empire dresses with binding corsets and slip skirts.
Finishing touches: For the first time, Marras’ footwear eclipsed his art-tinged clothes in terms of impact. Marras worked with shaggy furs on slippers that looked like dog’s paws or on thick rubber-soled moon boots that shivered with movement.
