Meadham Kirchoff A/W 2014
Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff's latest presentation carried the scent of a perfume launch - more specifically the April release of their new aroma for Penhaligon's, named 'Tralala'. The fragrance's inspiration was a heady mix of strong women and robust florals, which is perhaps why their opening looks seemed as though they had been reborn from the wardrobe of legendary perfumer Coco Chanel. Two-tone bouclé cardigans and tweed skirt suiting delved into the Mademoiselle's signature black and cream or pastel pairings, with Meadham Kirchhoff's colourful addition of ruffled transparent blouses and Ziggy Stardust boots. The duo next moved into slightly 1970s disco territory with spangly veiled black widows, and some shot silk and plush velvety dresses, before hitting on the cash cow that is bridal. But, of course, the designers' nuptials would only be sealed with a frothy pink or aqua ruffled French lace confection, which were impeccably made and should prove a real success when they hit stores, judging by the crowd's reaction.
