Moncler Gamme Bleu A/W 2014
Thom Browne may have taken the Moncler men down the hallowed halls of a traditional university library for Winter - but he dressed them more unorthodoxly than any Ivy League boy has ever thought possible. Ironically Brown's theme, argyle, was plucked right from the pages of the preppy handbook. But even the most fundamentalist of prepsters would have been aghast by the sheer number of classic diamonds on display. In signature Browne style, the designer fully loaded each of his men with layer upon layer of motifs - from their shirt, jacket, tie, knee socks, to their shin guards and 3/4 hunting trousers - until they disappeared under a blanket of voluminous pattern. Despite the repetition, the argyle remained freshly fascinating given the multitude of ways in which it was achieved. From rich thread or crystal embroideries, and quilting to printing, each piece was a magical, unique creation in pink and green, or sporty red, white and blue.
