Alighieri launches wedding dress rental
Calling modern brides! Alighieri Atelier's pearl dresses and jewelled veils are available to rent

‘After so many months of friends and colleagues having to postpone their weddings, it felt like the perfect moment to launch our bridal capsule collection: an homage to people coming together again,’ says Rosh Mahtani, founder of jewellery brand Alighieri. Mahtani's newly launched Alighieri Atelier collection encompasses wedding dresses thickly knitted from pearls, and gossamer-thin bras and veils woven from gold-filled chains. In idiosyncratic style, the pieces are informed by Dante's Divine Comedy. ‘Rental was such a natural and organic step, as it allows the statement atelier pieces to be accessible for everyone. I love the idea of each piece being imbued with one woman's story, and then passed on to the next,’ she says.
Introducing Alighieri’s bridalwear rental service
The one-of-a-kind pieces weave Dante’s mythical references into textured and flowing silhouettes for an other-worldy elegance. ‘I think of the veils as woven tapestries. We all weave the chapters of our stories together in such a unique way, the veils are inspired by the notion of using our narratives of imperfection as armour and strength,’ adds Mahtani. ‘I worked closely with our head of our Atelier, Frankie, to find ways to balance the couture-like aesthetic with functionality. For instance, the veils are quite chameleon-like; they can be attached to the hair with bobby pins, or even pinned to a suit pocket.’
RELATED STORY
Alighieri’s rental proposition responds to brides-to-be seeking a more sustainable shopping angle, choosing to rent items for their wedding day, instead of investing in often one-wear designs. The collection is available via clothes rental app Hurr and pieces can also be tried on at the brand’s Alighieri Old Town pop-up at 4 Dingley Place in London, from 5-9 May.
