‘My work is an organic and personal expression of authentic cross-cultural experiences,’ says André Fu. ‘There is nothing more provocative than creating design that is authentic.’ The architect, born in Hong Kong and educated in the UK from the age of 14, aims to take the concept of ‘modern luxury’ to the next level in all of his projects, from suites at The Berkley hotel to an installation for fashion brand COS

Fu gained international recognition in 2009 through his work on the Upper House in Hong Kong, for which he made use of natural materials and sculptural installations to create a hotel reminiscent of a private residence.

More recently, and having dipped his toe into the world of furniture design last year when he created the ‘Ribbon Dance’ sofa for Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades, Fu decided to launch his own label, André Fu Living, bringing his vision to a series of lifestyle objects including furniture, lighting, textiles and decorative accessories – all of which he describes as having a ‘modern Asian design aesthetic’.

‘While our design process is driven individually by its context and vision, the Asian pursuit of balance, calmness and comfort has always been an integral part of our language,’ he says.
