Kantine — Berlin, Germany

Minimalist in design and name, Kantine has recently opened within a new extension to David Chipperfield's Berlin outpost. The practice's staff canteen, it is also open to the public and spread over two floors. Most of the furnishings were designed by the resident architects and feature bare concrete walls, floor-to-ceiling windows and a space-defining 10m marble counter. The open kitchen and informal seating invite easy mingling over freshly baked bread and the daily changing menu, which uses locally sourced ingredients.
