Raf Simons and Adidas launch a limited-edition range of trainers
There's no denying the last year has been a significant one for Raf Simons. Since the Belgium-born fashion designer landed the coveted creative director post at Christian Dior last April - his ensuing output for the French fashion house has yielded widespread critical acclaim. Starting the new year as he means to go on, Simons - under his eponymous label - has joined forces with German sportswear brand Adidas to launch a new capsule collection of trainers, adding yet another creative coup to his belt.
The Adidas by Raf Simons 'sneaker' collection made its debut during Simons' A/W 2013 show at Paris Men's fashion week last Wednesday. Both brands are of course no strangers to collaborative work - Adidas has worked with designer Stella McCartney on a range of sports wear for women, while Fred Perry has recruited Simons to design numerous collections since 2008.
Made up of five different shoe designs in three alternating colour palettes, the capsule range sees each sneaker set against an all black base with multicoloured silicone detailing in rose, green, blue or burgundy.
Simons' graphically-charged range stays entirely true to Adidas' commitment to producing aesthetically pleasing, high performance running gear. We're expecting it to be coveted by the fashion and sports worlds in equal measure.
