Serapian and Bethan Laura Wood capture the sunrise in pastel leather
The capsule collection features bags with subtle colour gradations, inspired by the Japanese bokashi woodblock printing technique
In Partnership With Serapian
A recent collaboration between Bethan Laura Wood and Italian luxury leather goods house Serapian has culminated in a magical pastel-hued collection that vaunts the British designer’s signature colour explorations. Offering a meditation on craftsmanship, colour and light, the limited-edition capsule collection, The Sunrise of Mestieri d’Arte, made its debut last September at Milan Fashion Week S/S 2026 in a dreamlike installation at Villa Mozart, the brand’s Piero Portaluppi-designed Milan headquarters.
For almost a century, Serapian has been producing sought-after accessories using its esteemed Mosaico weaving technique, and its commitment to working with visionary artists to explore new dimensions of craft and design means that experimentation is embedded into its DNA. This collaboration saw Wood reimagine Serapian’s ‘Secret’, ‘Mini Secret’ and ‘Anì’ bags in a palette of azure, pink, off-white and ice, taking inspiration from bokashi, a Japanese woodblock printing technique used to create subtle colour gradations for depicting landscapes, such as sky or water. ‘I wanted to reference the clouds, replicate their soft hues and the reflections from the sunlight,’ says Wood.
‘With Bethan, we were keen to explore the evolution of light and colour through the iconic shapes of the ‘Secret’ family,’ says Serapian CEO Maxime Bohé. ‘This collection represents a contemporary laboratory of craft – we wanted to embed innovation into our traditional techniques.’
With this new collection, Serapian proves how important it is that the Made in Italy standard always evolves and never stays static. The Milanese brand continues to explore and experiment, successfully bridging its rich heritage with contemporary design innovation.
