Welcome home
In collaboration with Airbnb, design duo Muller Van Severen have opened up their personal living space for Design Miami
Fien Muller and Hannes van Severen of Belgian design studio Muller Van Severen have opened up their living room, or at least a replica of it, to the public in a highly personal interactive installation for Design Miami.
Simultaneously, their home in Belgium will be shared on Airbnb. In an effort to ‘illustrate the invisible connection between the owner and the visitor’, the designers are sharing heir lives and personal stories through individual objects in the room, guided by discreet speakers that whisper the object’s story into the ears of vistitors.
‘Spending time in someone else’s home is often a totally different experience than the homes presented in glossy magazines,’ say the pair. ‘When staying in an Airbnb home, one experiences life as it is, not as it is pretended.’
‘A Wild Thing’ is on view 6-10 December at Design Miami, Meridian Avenue & 19th Street. For more information, visit the Airbnb website and Muller Van Severen website
