New Vondom outdoor furniture is ahead of the curve
‘Luna’, a new Vondom outdoor furniture collection by Ramón Esteve, nods to midcentury design greats to deliver thoroughly contemporary elegance, functionality and comfort
In partnership with Vondom
Spanish outdoor furniture specialist Vondom – which has already worked with a stellar cast of international talent, from Jean-Marie Massaud to Marcel Wanders and Eugeni Quitllet – now turns to architect and designer Ramón Esteve for its latest product range.
His ‘Luna’ furniture collection for Vondom comprises outdoor armchairs, sofas and tables, and pays formal homage to the revolutionary aesthetics of Verner Panton and Joe Colombo. Referencing the boldness and innovation of designs from the 1960s and 1970s, Esteve’s work operates at the nexus of design and architecture to deliver both retro-tinged aesthetic appeal and contemporary comfort and functionality.
The ‘Luna’ project inspired Esteve and Vondom to look back and consider the material circumstances of industrial design during the second half of the 20th century – the use of new and revolutionary materials such as plastic and fibreglass conspiring with forward-thinking, mass-production techniques and processes to encourage the creation of innovative pieces. It made for a democratisation of design, which was suddenly accessible to a wider public.
Vondom’s ‘Luna’ collection continues this future-facing, avant-garde tradition by using innovative, recycled materials and bold shapes to create pieces that are both functional and elegant. With soft lines, organic curves and sandy, ecru tones, ‘Luna’s forms evoke serenity and harmony, while their robust structure ensures durability and strength in any environment: beaches, poolsides and sundecks preferred.
