A new film chronicles the Italian radical design movement and its key players

New York gallery R & Company and Italian production company Muse present a new film by curator Maria Cristina Didero and director Francesca Molteni, celebrating the most significant moments of the Italian radical design movement and it’s key players.

In this clip, Didero and Molteni delve headfirst into the design movement and its revolutionary approach, interviewing the likes of Franco Audrito, Lapo Binazzi, Andrea Branzi, Ugo la Pietra, Gaetano Pesce and many more. The film weaves the stories of Italy’s radical designers with the turbulent political and social climate of the 1960s and 70s, painting a picture that is as much about design as it is about the country’s history.

The documentary precedes an exhibition curated by Didero at R & Company, as well as a book, SuperDesign, by the Italian curator with contributions by Evan Snyderman, Deyan Sudjic and Catharine Rossi.

Rosa Bertoli

Rosa Bertoli was born in Udine, Italy, and now lives in London. Since 2014, she has been the Design Editor of Wallpaper*, where she oversees design content for the print and online editions, as well as special editorial projects. Through her role at Wallpaper*, she has written extensively about all areas of design. Rosa has been speaker and moderator for various design talks and conferences including London Craft Week, Maison & Objet, The Italian Cultural Institute (London), Clippings, Zaha Hadid Design, Kartell and Frieze Art Fair. Rosa has been on judging panels for the Chart Architecture Award, the Dutch Design Awards and the DesignGuild Marks. She has written for numerous English and Italian language publications, and worked as a content and communication consultant for fashion and design brands.
