Fonda Windsor presents a contemporary interpretation of restaurant-style food served from the kitchen of a Mexican home. Inspired by the traditional Mexican concept of intimate hospitality, local outfit Techne Architects have used custom-made, rope-strung benches and Acapulco-inspired light fittings to create a casual, communal taqueria with a central kitchen featuring storeroom-style open shelving lined with produce, drinks and terracotta pot plants. The space is otherwise rather grand; Techne stripped back the building to its shell, revealing a cathedral ceiling, stained-glass windows and original decoration. The geometric floor pattern, conceived in collaboration with local graphic designers Goldenhen, brings everything together.
