Wallpaper’s Born in Brazil launch party, New York
As the design world descended on New York for the ICFF, Wallpaper* kicked off the action with a party to celebrate the launch of its Born in Brazil issue. Leading lights of the art, fashion and design community gathered at specialist Brazilian contemporary furniture gallery, Espasso, for the event, held in association with the country's top chain of luxury shopping centres, Iguatemi.
Guests, including a cohort of Brazilian models and Wallpaper* cover girl Ana Beatriz Barros, mingled among furniture by the likes of Carlos Motta in Espasso's converted Tribeca factory space. In keeping with theme of the issue, they sipped on custom-blended Wallpaper* caipirinhas from Sagatiba and nibbled on authentic Brazilian delicacies, courtesy of Greenwich Village restaurant Berimbau.
The limited edition cover designed by artist, Vik Muniz - featuring a paper cut-out representation of Rio's Vidigal favela - was unveiled for the first time during the party. And musician Nanny Assis treated the throng to an impromptu acoustic guitar session of Brazilian lounge music. It wrapped up a fitting toast to an issue that celebrated the most exciting country on earth.
