Prada Transformer Launch, Seoul
Seoul enjoyed a day of celebrations yesterday in honour of Prada’s eagerly awaited Transformer launch. Kicking off with an impressively attended ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO of the Prada Group Patrizio Bertelli, architect Rem Koolhaas and the Korean Minister of Culture all made requisite appearances.

Later that evening, and the main event commenced with a gala inauguration attended by Miuccia Prada herself along with the director of the Prada Foundation Germano Celant and the Mayor of Seoul, Mr Oh Se-hoon.
With musical offerings from Steve Mackie (of Pulp fame), a one thousand strong, cocktail guzzling crowd and an intimidating assortment of canapés ranging from Sashimi to steak - the luminary studded ceremony set the Transformer spinning in style.
Not to be neglected amid the merry-making, Miuccia’s very own Waist Down exhibition – a nomadic show of skirts from across the globe – was the first cultural venture to take residence in the Transformer.
Appropriately enough, for the Korean leg of the Waist Down tour, Mrs Prada has included skirts from some of the shining stars of Seoul’s design scene.
With cardboard-cut-out models lining the transformer’s skeletal interior, skirt clad mannequins dotted around, and individual pieces suspended from the pitched ceilings – Miuccia’s eclectic exhibition is a graceful compliment to the sweeping mechanics of the Prada pavilion.
