French malletier Moynat unveils its first store outside of Paris on London's Mount Street
Luxury French malletier Moynat has chosen London's historic Mount Street to debut its first boutique outside of Paris. Founded in 1849 by Pauline Moynat (the only female trunk-maker of her time), the brand has a rich travel heritage that has been expanded by the house's current artistic director Ramesh Nair (formally of Hermès), to include a range of bespoke leather trunks - starring the one-of-a-kind piece previewed in our April issue (W* 181) - as well as suitcases and bags for both men and women.
This legacy of discreet luxury has been continued within the Mayfair store's design, undertaken by Gwenael Nicolas of Curiosity, and spread over two floors, facing the famed Connaught Hotel. Along with the space's domed Art Deco ceilings and arched windows - reflective of the house's last golden age, when artist Henri Rapin was creative director, and the curves of Moynat's trunks - the boutique also houses an in-store atelier for made-to-measure pieces, as well as the house's signature personalisation service that extends to initialing and hand-painting. Here, it's all about the finer details.

A room with a view: fashion designers' line of sight
From Manolo Blahnik to Margaret Howell, we've invited fashion designers to document by hand what they can see from their work desk or window, be it a view of a verdant garden landscape, or an urban snapshot of baroque architecture. They might just inspire you to work on a self-isolation sketch of your own.
