Scene setting: For Spring/Summer 2019, Coach took over the sprawling Pier 94, located on the western riverfront of midtown Manhattan, and transformed it into a dystopian, Mad Max-style desert landscape, replete with rusted car bumpers, playground equipment and a giant metallic dinosaur skeleton that all rose out of the glimmering sand.

Mood board: Against such an evocative backdrop, the label presented its latest interpretation of Americana, this time honing in on American craft and heirlooms, along with the prairie spirit of the Wild West. Taking shape as ruffled bohemian dresses, heavily fringed leather jackets, patchwork backpacks and a bounty of charm and talisman jewellery, the collection exuded a rebellious, yet romantic vibe that was completed by fringed moccasin boots and sneakers.

Team work: No stranger to collaboration, Coach joins together with Disney this season to remix some of its best loved cartoon icons. Graphic illustrations of some of the company’s most classic characters were emblazoned on hoodies and t-shirts as large motifs, while elsewhere the incorporation of other Disney imagery in embroidery, prairie and floral prints produced a more subtle result.
