Creatives for Lebanon launches first fashion sale
The non-profit organisation launches its first fashion sale, available through online marketplace Beirut Re-Store
Creatives for Lebanon – the non profit organisation established to support the country’s creative community in the aftermath of the August explosions in Beirut, has announced its first fashion drop. The sale, featuring over 300 exclusive products by 30 designers including Christian Dior, M Missoni, Jean Paul Gaultier, Supriya Lele and Beirut’s Sandra Mansour and Rabih Kayrouz, is available to purchase via online marketplace Beirut Re-Store.
It’s estimated that 8,000 buildings – largely situated in the vibrant cultural districts of Gemmayzeh and Mar Mikhael – were damaged in the aftermath of the warehouse blasts in the Port of Beirut. Numerous creatives, including designers Nada Debs and David/Nicolas, and fashion designers and couturiers Roni Helou, Rabih Kayrouz and Elie Saab had their headquarters, studios and buildings destroyed.
Creatives for Lebanon, whose founders include Beirut-born stylist Emilie Kareh, womenswear designer Racil and Lebanese jeweller Noor Fares, are formulating long-term impact initaitives which will allow Beirut’s artistic community to rebuild. Collaborating with Beirut Re-Store, a retail design and art initiative also launched to raise money to rebuild the city, its first sartorially-swayed sale features a ‘Beirut' emblazed Book tote bag by Dior, a stamp-inspired scarf by Mary Katrantzou with a ‘From Beirut With Love' print and a seductive draped dress by Supriya Lele in uplifting turquoise. Each designer was asked to create or customise a piece, to aid raising money through LIFE Generation USA, which is working for immediate aid in the wake of the blast and education through the LIFE scholarship programmes.
