'Valsusa' armchair

Pool
€7,500

Four different geometric shapes make up the latest design by French studio Pool. Launched recently at Operae festival in Turin, Italy, with the support of Gallery S Bensimon, the 'Valsusa' armchair has two contrasting finishes: plush blue velvet for the seating, arm- and backrest, countered with an oak leg sheathed in a tough, rustic hide. The sculptural chair echoes Pool's conceptual experimentations with shapes, and the studio's ability to transform these into functional furniture.

Ovo-ovO

Ida Elke
€2552

The functions of Danish designer Ida Elke’s new furniture object Ovo-ovO are secondary to a play with palindromic principles. A palindrome is a sequence that can be read both backwards and forwards. Its name reflects the nature of the sandcast aluminum object itself: turned one way, Ovo-ovO serves as a stool and sidetable, with the other, it can be used as a vessel, vase or bowl.

'Livit' sofa

Lievore Altherr Molina / Expormim

'Trianglehex'

Bertjan Pot / Golran
£1.020

From Bertjan Pot's 'Triangles' collection for Golran, the design of this hand-knotted wool and silk pouf was initiated with an investigation into the weaving technique of the kilim from which its pattern would be spun. Like all pieces from the line, the pouf's pattern is based on the geometric form of the triangle, which here has been positioned to create a kaleidoscopic series of diamonds and hexagons, emphasised by a clever arrangement of both contrasting and harmonising hues of pink and red.

Included in the metaphysical range is a set of drums with a simple yet multifunctional cylinder shape that can exist as seating or a small table. However it is not the shape or functionality which is the main event here but the embellishment which is layered on the piece - Azurite Malachite. Azurite is believed to evoke intuition and spiritual guidance along with psychic power giving the piece a new organic design depth. The drums are handcrafted by brother duo Samuel and Dominic Amoia and is available in different colours and stones; here it is visualised in a plaster blue encrusted with the potent Malachite.
