Oskar Metsavaht
Born in Caxias do Sul in 1961, snow-boarder, mountaineer and former medic Oskar Metsavaht founded his fashion label, Osklen, in 1988, after designing a much-admired range of snow jackets using his Storm Tech System, a breathable fabric that protects against the cold. Osklen is now Brazil's most successful fashion export, famed for its pioneering use of sustainable materials. Film directing is another string to Metsavaht's bow: he directed and produced the feature film trilogy 'Surfing the Mountains', as well as producing short films to accompany many of his fashion collections.
